The wheels haven't done so well over the last four decades.

The chrome on the rims is blistered and rust is underneath.

The spokes are badly corroded, too.

The hub is badly oxidized also, and the brake drum badly

rusted.

Surprisingly, the

speedometer drive

gear is in fair shape.

The wheel is dismantled, and the hub gently polished to what a normal 'new'

hub of that era would have looked like.

A new rim and spokes are ready for lacing.

After lacing, the wheel is put in the truing stand and

'trued' by careful tensioning of the spokes until it spins true, side-to-side and elliptically, and the spokes are all evenly tightened.

The process is then repeated for the rear wheel...
