Vintage Motorcycle Wheel Restoration |
The wheels haven't done so well over the last four decades. The chrome on the rims is blistered and rust is underneath. The spokes are badly corroded, too. |

The hub is badly oxidized also, and the brake drum badly rusted. Surprisingly, the speedometer drive gear is in fair shape. |

The wheel is dismantled, and the hub gently polished to what a normal 'new' hub of that era would have looked like. A new rim and spokes are ready for lacing. |

After lacing, the wheel is put in the truing stand and 'trued' by careful tensioning of the spokes until it spins true, side-to-side and elliptically, and the spokes are all evenly tightened. The process is then repeated for the rear wheel... |
